The Macau Catholic Schools Association held the Teacher’s Development Day on 10 September 2026 at Macao Polytechnic University, with the theme “United in Love” 「合一 相愛」. As this year marks the 450th anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Macau, the gathering carried special significance. The programme focused on teachers’ physical, mental, and spiritual well‑being, encouraging them to find balance amid the demands of teaching and daily life, and to nurture their inner calm and strength.
Our Most Reverend Bishop Stephen Lee Bun Sang reminded teachers that although artificial intelligence is reshaping education, technology can never replace the warmth, compassion, and human connection that define the vocation of teaching. He emphasised that education is not only the transmission of knowledge, but also the sharing of time, trust, justice, compassion, courage, and comfort. He expressed his hope that this Teacher’s Development Day would give teachers a moment to pause, rebuild trust, and renew their inner strength.
As in previous years, teachers who have served in the schools within the Macau Catholic Schools Association for 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years were honoured for their long‑standing dedication. We are proud that Ms Shelley Grace Calangi and Ms Joan Tou received recognition for 35 years and 25 years of service respectively, reflecting their commitment and love for education.
We pray that all teachers may continue to be blessed with good health, peace of mind, and the grace to carry out their mission with joy and strength!
