SRL Feast Day 2009 – A Memorable Event

Rosians and friends gathered on Sunday, the 4th of October, 2009, to celebrate their traditional School Feast Day in honour of the school patrons Saint Rose of Lima and Saint Francis of Assisi. Following the Eucharistic Thanksgiving Celebration, the Ceremonial Blessing of the New Wing was held, officiated by His Excellency, Bishop Jose Lai, Bishop of Macau. Attended by invited guests, the FMM sisters, staff members and selected students, the solemn ceremony was enlivened by the sweet voices of the Primary and Secondary School Choirs singing The Prayer of Saint Francis, accompanied by the School Brass Band. Guests were then treated to a tea buffet, followed by a guided tour of the new wing and the Open Day Exhibition.

In the afternoon, the gate was opened to the public and parents were given their first glimpse of their children's newly improved learning environment. The following day, the 5th of October, students put on their walking shoes and embarked on what has become an annual SRL Fund-raising event: the SRL Fun-Fund-raising Walk. Primary 1 to 4 students were taken to the Vasco da Gama Park while the Primary 5 to Form 6 students leisurely made their way to the Fisherman's Wharf. Everyone was back at school before 10:00 with more than enough time to spare for snacks and friendly chats. The teachers then enjoyed a staff luncheon while the students had a well deserved afternoon off.
