90th Anniversary Open Day

On Saturday, the 11th of February, 2023, our school held its Open Day to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of its foundation. Following a late afternoon of hectic preparations and decorations the day before, the Opening Ceremony was held that morning, attended by His Lordship, Bishop Stephen Lee, Bishop of Macau, and other distinguished guests, principals and representatives from Macau’s Catholic schools.

A drone display, created by one of our STEM teachers, Mr Amos Hong, accompanied by the Concert Band, was the highlight of the Ceremony. To end the drone display, the Bishop was invited to symbolically “take the controls” and lead us all into the future since the school is now under the sponsorship of the Diocese of Macau.

Following the Opening Ceremony, the guests were taken around the school to see the exhibitions, workshops and performances that had been prepared for the day, accompanied by student ambassadors. Amazing STEM activities had been organized in the hall while several departments showcased the students’ work, arranged in eye-catching exhibits.

SRL Alumni, members of the Rosian Association, the executives and core group members of the current Students’ Association and the Fu Hong Society sold hand-made products, anniversary souvenirs, snacks and other items at the basement. Games were also offered for kids to enjoy. Meanwhile, parents and past students proved their prowess in sports during the friendly matches held on the playground.

Although many past students and parents commented that they wished the day had been longer, it certainly proved to be an inspiring day for many!
