School Feast Day

Another year, though not just another celebration. This school year, 2017-2018, began quite meaningfully with the annual Feast Day Mass which was concelebrated by the Bishop of Macau, His Lordship, Bishop Stephen Lee, assisted by Father Aidan Conroy, our school chaplain. The Mass was held in the school playground, attended by fmm sisters, members of the Management Board and the Administrative Team, past students, parent representatives from the PTA, other VIPs and, of course, the entire student body and teaching staff. Following the encouraging and inspiring homily given by Bishop Lee, our very own cute dancers, from the Modern Dance Club, led the extra special Offertory Procession that involved 85 representatives chosen from the various groups in attendance. Why 85? Well, this year is also the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the school! Each of these representatives offered a rose that was placed into a heart-shaped bouquet especially prepared for the occasion. The angelic renditions of the Secondary Choir further enhanced the warm and familial atmosphere of the event.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the secondary students proceeded to the school hall while the primary students reconvened in the playground. This time, short skits, focusing on various aspects of the life of St Francis of Assisi, the school patron, had been prepared by the Religious Affairs Department. The students obviously enjoyed the performances of their teachers and fellow schoolmates! Everyone went home that day with a fortified sense of the Franciscan spirit!
